Monthly editorial calendar: our public template

The exact template we use for our community management clients. Downloadable, actionable, and designed for long-term consistency.

Monthly editorial calendar: our public template

The difference between a brand that posts "when there's time" and one that grows steadily month after month isn't magic or advertising budget. It's organization. Lack of consistency is the silent killer of organic reach.

At codeX, we manage the social media for multiple brands across various industries, and to do so without losing our minds, we rely on a central tool: our Editorial Calendar. Today, we're making it public so you can implement it in your business.

Why do most templates fail?

If you search on Google, you'll find hundreds of Excel templates for social media. The problem is that almost all of them focus on what to publish (the photo, the text), but ignore the why (the strategic objective).

Our template is designed to connect daily content with the company's quarterly goals.

The anatomy of our template

The calendar is divided into key columns that force your team to think before they write:

  • Content Pillar: Is it an educational, inspirational, sales, or entertainment post? Maintaining a balance (80/20 rule) prevents your feed from looking like a supermarket catalog.
  • Funnel Stage: Who are we talking to? Attract strangers (TOFU), nurture current followers (MOFU), or convert ready customers (BOFU)?
  • Format and Channel: Reel for Instagram, Carousel for LinkedIn, or Interactive Story. Define where each idea lives best.
  • The Hook: The first line of text or the first 3 seconds of the video. If we don't grab attention here, the rest of the content doesn't matter.
  • Production Status: From "Idea," through "Design/Editing," to "Scheduled." A visual traffic light for the entire team.

How to implement it with your team today

The best calendar is the one that fills up at least two weeks in advance. We suggest the following monthly routine:

  1. Day 20 of the previous month: 1-hour strategic meeting. Define the key themes, launches, or promotions for the following month.
  2. Day 25: Writing all the copy and hooks in the template.
  3. Day 28: Batch recording session or delivery of requirements to the design team.
  4. Day 1: Scheduled content on the platform of your choice. Ready to focus on engaging with the community, not putting out fires.

"Consistency builds trust. And trust is the only real shortcut to conversion."
